‘Public-police coordination must to eliminate crimes’

IGP calls for inter-faith and religious harmony for peace in society

LAHORE: Punjab Inspector General of Punjab (IGP) Captain (retd) Arif Nawaz Khan has said strong coordination between public and police was the need of the hour to maintain law and order and eliminate crimes from society.

He expresses these views during a meeting with people of the different religious schools of thought and members of the district peace committee at the Central Police Office on Tuesday.

The religious leaders lauded the strict security measures taken by the Punjab police on the important religious events especially Eid Miladun Nabi and Muharram across the province.

Speaking on the occasion, the IGP said strong coordination between public and police was pivotal to maintaining law and order in society. He said the elimination of sectarianism was made possible with the help of timely actions by Punjab police and the inter-religious harmony of religious scholars along with the implementation of SOPs devised in the National Action Plan.

The delegation said with the efforts of the police force there has been a decline in the incidents of terrorism. The delegation of religious scholars presented a shield to the IGP for maintaining law and order across the province.

The meeting was attended by Allama Shakeel Rehman Nasir, Allama Hafiz Muhammad Kazim Raza Naqvi, Allama Muhammad Zubair Virk, Mufti Syed Ashiq Hussain, Allama Hafiz Sami Ullah and Rana Abdul Manan along with other persons were in the delegation.
