A speeding truck struck rammed their vehicle from behind

RAWALPINDI: A constable of the elite force was killed and four others were injured when the van they were travelling was rammed by a speeding truck on the GT Road early on Sunday.

Police officials told that a team of the elite force, headed by ASI Babar Shehzad and comprising Head Constable Fareed Ahmed and constables Naeem Ahmed, Mohammad Khurram, Ahmed Nawaz, Rashid, and Adnan were returning to the Mandra police station in their mobile van after a successful operation when a speeding truck struck rammed them from behind.

As a result, all the occupants of the van suffered grievous injuries. All the injured personnel were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, however, Constable Nawaz succumbed to his wounds. The police have impounded the truck and arrested its driver identified as Usman. In another incident, an ASI of the Islamabad Police was suspended on Sunday after he thrashed a car wash worker for delays in servicing his vehicle.

The worker said he pushed cops’ car at the front of the queue ahead of other cars but the officer started thrashing him when he failed to dry the vehicle swiftly.
