The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) are still in contact to discuss a reconciliation, said senior provincial minister Pir Mazhar ul Haq on Friday.
“All the people living in Sindh are Sindhi. There should not be any discrimination among those who speak Urdu, Sindhi, Balochi, Punjabi or Pashtu,” he said when he spoke to the media after a meeting with Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) leader Pir Pagara. “We all are brothers and should forget old grievances. We need to join hands in order for the province to prosper.”
“I wanted to thank Pir Pagara for his support and joining the treasury. Pir sahib has prayed and I hope that there will be no violence in the city,” Haq said.
He added that the media should avoid breaking news which could lead to controversy and violence in the city. “The Urdu-speaking community has sacrificed immensely during the partition. It is unfair that some people are conspiring to create a rift amongst people in the province,” he said.
Commenting on Zulfiqar Mirza’s statements, Haq claimed that he would not comment on it and that the chapter was closed.
