KARACHI:

The commissionerate system is a harsh reminder of British imperialism, said All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) Karachi Information Secretary Syed Mohammad Ali Jaffri. “The APML condemns the government’s dictatorial step and will go to court if necessary. The bureaucrats have replaced the real representatives of the people,” he said on Friday at a press conference organised at the Karachi Press Club.

He added that Zulfiqar Mirza was responsible for the violence that erupted in the city on Thursday. “Mirza should resign and the authorities should take action against him. I want to let Zulfiqar Mirza know that the makers of Pakistan are not hungry or destitute,” Jaffri said.

According to Jaffri, Pervez Musharraf was called a dictator by the democratic parties whereas he was the one who brought the local government system. “The local government system enabled the true representatives of the people to solve their problems. It was because of this system that the city nazim was acknowledged as the best mayor in the world,” he said. With reference to the May 12 2007 violence, Jaffri claimed that the matter was being dealt with at court.

“Musharraf is the only leader who was not involved in corruption. He will be in the country soon and win the elections from Baluchistan as the province made progress in his government,” said Jaffri.
