Pakistan's table tennis player Mehek Anwar dies at age 16 due to cancer

Mehek was a Sindh Junior table tennis player and was suffering from the illness for a long time

KARACHI: Pakistan's 16-year-old table tennis player Mehek Anwar died in Karachi after suffering from prolonged illness.

Mehek, who was a Sindh Junior table tennis player, was suffering from cancer.

The government of Pakistan was asked to help for Mehek's treatment and the Federal government said they would send in financial support but the family didn't receive anything.

PM Imran Khan also ordered a delegation to meet Mehek, but even then no financial assistance reached the family.

Later, former Pakistan T20I captain Shahid Afridi helped Mehek's family financially, but she couldn't recover from the illness.

Mehek's other two sisters are also table tennis players and her mother works as a Naib Qasid in Jamia Mili School, Malir.
