Pakistan re-elected to UNESCO Executive Board

Pakistan was re-elected to the Executive Board of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).

In an election held at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris on Thursday, Pakistan received a total of 154 votes out of 180, securing their position in the Executive Board for the next four-year term.

Pakistan has been a continuous member of the UNESCO Executive Board since 1978, reported Radio Pakistan.

Members of the Executive Board are selected by UNESCO's General Conference according to a system of regional grouping.

Pakistan re-elected to UNESCO executive board

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi posted on Twitter lauding Pakistan for its re-election to the UNESCO Executive Board, adding that this shows the country's contribution in promoting international cooperation in the fields of education, science and culture.

The foreign minister also congratulated the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador of Pakistan to France Moin-ul-Haq and his team for the achievement.
