ISLAMABAD: In line with efforts of the government to improve the environment under the ‘Clean-Green Pakistan’ initiative, the Japanese embassy in Islamabad on Wednesday planted a tree in its compound.

Japanese Ambassador Kuninori Matsuda along with the Adviser to Prime Minister on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam planted a jasmine (national flower of Pakistan) tree in the embassy.

Matsuda said that they have planted as many as 21 trees in the embassy this month apart from many other plants.

The envoy added that Japanese people traditionally have been very close to nature and, therefore, he would like to share such close attachment with the people of Pakistan by planting a tree.

The embassy staff also wore green clothing for the event such as ties and handkerchiefs. Aslam wore a green origami rose.
