Two die as factory roof collapses in HIE

Rescue 1122 fire brigade and ambulance immediately rushed to the spot

PESHAWAR: At least two people died when the roof of an under-construction factory in the Hayatabad Industrial Estate collapsed on Wednesday.

One of the victims was an employee of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Economic Zones Development and Management Company. Fida Fabrications Industry is in the process of expanding its facilities.

In a newly-built section of the factory, the roof collapsed killing a class four pipe fitter and a worker of the defunct Sarhad Development Authority (SDA) Naik Akhtar and the building contractor. Rescue 1122 fire brigade and ambulance immediately rushed to the spot.

Akhtar was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, but he succumbed to his injuries before reaching the facility.
