Flood relief: Donors pledge assistance to K-P

PESHAWAR: Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (DG PDMA) Shakil Qadir has said that foreign donors have pledged financial assistance to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government. The aid is for relief and rescue activities in case of floods hitting the region again this year. Addressing a ceremony held here on Thursday, Qadir said that the United Nations Development Fund (UNDP) would provide $25 million. The DG PDMA said that although there was no guarantee of foreseeing natural disasters, damage control could take place if proper safety arrangements were put in place.
