Bus collision: ‘Reckless driving’ leaves six dead near Sibi

A deadly collision between a passenger coach and a truck loaded with flour near Sibi left six people dead and 15 others injured on Thursday.


According to officials of the Balochistan Levies, a passenger coach travelling to Quetta from Bahawalpur crashed into a truck loaded with flour on the national highway in the Balanari Levies Thana jurisdiction. As a result of the collision, six passengers died on the spot while 15 others received serious injuries.

A rescue operation was launched soon after the accident.

The deceased and the injured were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Sibi.

The deceased were identified as Mohammad Tariq, the bus driver, Bibi Hamida, Abdul Khaliq, Abdul Malik, Mohammad Iqbal and Mulazim Hussain. The deceased belonged to Bahawalpur and nearby townships.

“The accident took place due to reckless driving,” said a local official, adding that investigations were underway.
