Voiceless female students

Letter November 15, 2019
I urge the educational institutions and authorities concerned to move against the suspects and make strict policies

KOLOWAH: Balochistan University is one of the biggest educational institutions in the country. But it hurts me to say that female students are being harassed and blackmailed by teachers. Even though everyone is aware about the situation, they still don’t stand up for them. This is the most serious issue that Balochistan faces right now yet nothing is being done about it. Recent incidents have instilled fear in many parents. On the one hand, they send their daughters for education to make a better life and, on the other, such heinous activities are being carried out. If it was any other province then many strict measures would have been taken to put the suspects behind bars.

Unfortunately, Balochistan is an orphan province. It is time that all of Balochistan stood for their women and created an atmosphere that makes it safe for them so they are able to contribute to society as equals. Other provinces have failed to curb this evil and uphold proper rights for the people of Balochistan. Therefore, I urge the educational institutions and authorities concerned as well as the Balochistan chief minister to move against the suspects and make strict policies and rules so that no such incident happens in the future.
