Iran, Pakistan sign gas export deal

TEHRAN: Iran and Pakistan formally signed the Iran-Pakistan gas export deal on Sunday.

According to the deal Iran will begin supplying natural gas to Pakistan in 2014, while the construction of the multimillion dollar gas pipeline would begin on Monday.

Speaking at the contract signing ceremony, Iran's deputy oil minister Javad Ouji stated that Iran would export more than 21 million cubic meters of natural gas to Pakistan, and confirmed that Iran will start construction of the pipeline from the southeastern city of Iranshahr towards Pakistan's border, through the Iranian port of Chabahar.

While, Pakistan's Deputy Energy Minister Kamran Lashari said Islamabad will conduct a 1 year feasibility study for building its section of the pipeline.
