QUETTA: Lawmakers in the Balochistan Assembly slammed the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) over low gas pressure in the province since the start of November and demanded that the house call the SSGC chief to seek an explanation.

The BA session presided over by Deputy Speaker Sardar Babar Musakhail expressed ire over low gas pressure in Balochistan. The lawmakers noted that the province had been fulfilling the country’s natural gas needs since 1950 but now even its capital was facing a shortage.

Calling attention of the house, Balochistan Awami Party’s (BAP) Bushra Rind urged the house to summon the SSGC general manager to give an explanation.

BNP parliamentary leader Malik Naseer Shahwani said residents of Quetta staged a protest against low gas pressure but no representative of the government met the protesters or heard their voice.
