Pakistan suffered their second loss at the PTT-EGAT Snooker World Cup when top-seeds Mark Williams and Matthew Stevens of Wales overcame Mohammad Sajjad and Shahid Aftab 3-2 in Thailand yesterday.
World number one Williams put his team ahead after beating Aftab in the first frame. Sajjad was then outclassed by Matthew Stevens as Wales gained a 2-0 lead.
The Welsh team then sealed the match when Williams and Steven won the doubles frame before Pakistan gained two consolatory, but crucial, frames.
Sajjad defeated Williams in the reverse singles match while Pakistan number one Aftab prevailed over Stevens in the last frame.
Pakistan now meet Egypt in their last Group A match today with hopes of finishing in the last-eight.
However, the team, which has won seven frames and lost eight, have seven points but need a convincing win over lowly-ranked Egypt to go through to the quarter-finals.
