KARACHI: District East model court issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for witness, Federal Investigation Agency Director Sultan Ali Khawaja, on Monday in a case pertaining to a fake police encounter.

The case was heard before additional district and sessions judge, Haleem Ahmed. The court issued the arrest warrant as Khawaja failed to issue the inquiry report of the fake police encounter.

According to police, six accused had called Tariq Hussain to a ground in 2015 and had murdered him. The police had declared the incident as an encounter. Khawaja had investigated the alleged fake encounter against the accused but failed to submit the inquiry report before the court. The FIA director failed to appear before the court despite being summoned several times. The court ordered that he be produced before it after the arrest.
