LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Raja Basharat participated in a special ceremony, as chief guest, on Saturday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Allama Iqbal.

Pakistan Navy’s Station Commander Lahore Commodore Niamatullah Khan and Lahore division commissioner were also present on the occasion.

The minister laid floral wreath at Mazar-e-Iqbal and offered prayers.

He said that in view of the sayings of Iqbal, there is an urgent need for unity in the country and the need for discouragement of those who want to undermine the country. “Those who undermine our democracy by becoming an instrument of enemy forces should be discouraged.”

He added that in view of Allama Iqbal’s love for Kashmir, we should also offer special prayers for the people of Kashmir, who have been detained for three months.
