BNP-A calls for protest against ‘gas shutdown’ in Kalat

QUETTA: The fresh wave of winter season has exposed tall claims of gas utility authorities as people across the provincial capital are complaining of low gas pressures.

According to details, the locals have demanded of the government to restore gas pressures. They have also urged the prime minister, the petroleum minister and authorities concerned to take notice of the current situation in Quetta.

Moreover, the Balochistan National Party-Awami (BNP-A) has also announced a protest against the alleged gas shutdown in Kalat.

“Kalat, which is the coldest part of the country, falls substantially below freezing point. Hundreds of thousands of people in Kalat are suffering from severe cold weather amid gas shutdown,” said Qadir Umrani, the district organiser of BNP’s Kalat chapter.

Even in the summer season, “gas supply to Kalat remained closed for months,” he added.

“People have been paying gas bills but now when they need it the most gas has disappeared,” said Umrani.

On the other hand, the LPG gas is also out of the reach of the consumers. The BNP-A leader said that his party – during a meeting on regional and public issues – decided to launch a movement to resolve the problems by calling all parties on gas shortage, road condition and other problems.
