ISLAMABAD: The President of the State Council of Switzerland, Jean Rene Fournier, on Wednesday, condemned the blatant human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir and stressed the need for the world community to its voice against it.

Talking to National Assembly Asad Qaiser, Fournier, who is leading a five-member Swiss delegation to Pakistan, supported the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

During the meeting at the Parliament House, Qaiser asked the Swiss parliamentarians to add their voice to the calls against the worst human rights abuses being committed by the Indian forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The speaker apprised the delegation of the historic perspective of the Kashmir issue, stressing that the dispute was an unfinished agenda of the Partition of India. He said that leaving the Kashmir issue unresolved would put the security and peace of the region at stake.

Referring to Pakistan’s ties with Switzerland, the speaker said that Pakistan valued its seven-decades-old relations and desired to further strengthen them by enhancing people-to-people and business contacts.

He informed the delegation that a friendship group had been established in National Assembly. He invited the Swiss companies to invest in Pakistan, especially in agriculture, livestock, manufacturing and tourism sectors.

Fournier said that his country strongly believes in human rights and civil liberties and would certainly raise their voice against the infringement of human rights in Indian Occupied Kashmir. He added that Switzerland strongly supports the resolution of the Kashmir issue in accordance with the UN resolutions.

He said that Switzerland also attached importance to its relations with Pakistan and wanted to further enhance them through the interaction of political leadership and the business community. He hoped that Swiss investors would come and invest in Pakistan for the mutual benefit of both countries.
