The Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) has decided to start an audit of the World Bank-sponsored Tax Administration Reforms Project of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) from July 18 and has sought the cooperation of the revenue collecting body.
AGP will also conduct an audit of FBR subsidiaries including Pakistan Revenue Automation Limited (PRAL), Large Taxpayer Units and Regional Tax Offices.
A senior FBR official told The Express Tribune that AGP has sent a letter requesting cooperation with audit teams as it said audit is very important to ensure good governance. According to the letter, compliance reports will be checked and special attention will be paid to see whether rules and regulations are being followed while spending money on tax reforms projects.
