Five-day anti-polio drive starts in Pindi

Some 2,181 polio teams are expected to go door-to-door and administer polio drops to some 896,977 children

RAWALPINDI: A five-day anti-polio drive is expected to commence in the Rawalpindi district from Monday, November 11. During the campaign, some 2,181 polio teams are expected to go door-to-door and administer polio drops to some 896,977 children who are less than five-years-of-age.

This was disclosed by the Rawalpindi District Health Authority (DHA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Sohail Chaudhry while talking to the media on Sunday.

He said that the staff deployed for the campaign have been given special instructions. Moreover, he said that they have been warned that no negligence on behalf of the medical teams will be tolerated.

Dr Chaudhry said that apart from the door-to-door campaign, they have set up 287 fixed centres while transit points have also been designated. Moreover, he added that 217 Union Council supervisors and 448 area in-charges have also been deployed to supervise the campaign.
