PESHAWAR: Based on a request from the provincial government, the federal government is set to release around 15 million tonnes of wheat to Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa to stabilise the flour market in the province.

This was disclosed by Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Information Minister Shaukat Yousafzai on Sunday as he addressed reports of wheat shortage.

He added that based on the directions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, they had imposed a ban on the export of wheat and flour to neighbouring Afghanistan. Yousafzai added that the prime minister had further asked to increase the amount of wheat released to the provinces of K-P, Sindh and Balochistan to meet their demands.
