100 inspectors promoted to rank of DSP

In all, 4,750 officials of Sindh Police have been promoted in the current year so far, says Sindh IG

KARACHI: Sindh Police Inspector-General (IG) Dr Syed Kaleem Imam, Sindh Home Secretary Kazi Kabir and additional IGs (AIGs) pinned badges to 100 inspectors, who have been promoted to the rank of deputy superintendent of police, at a rank-wearing ceremony held at Saleem Wahidi Auditorium on Wednesday.

Congratulating the promoted officials, Sindh IG said that their responsibilities have increased with their ranks and stressed the need for transparent and indiscriminate policing, which, according to him not only ensures good performance but also the good reputation of the officials.

He also asked the officials to ensure that they behave decently with the public.

Sindh IG informed the attendees of the ceremony that so far, 4,750 officials, serving in different units of the police department, have been promoted in the current year.

"It is for the first time in the history of Sindh Police that such a large number of officials have been promoted, purely on the basis of merit," he said.

Promotion of 66 officers recommended

The Sindh police chief thanked Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Sindh Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah and the provincial home secretary for their cooperation in the process of promotions, and assured that the process of promotions in the department will continue uninterrupted.

Speaking in this regard, Sindh Headquarters DIG Abdul Khaliq Shaikh said that the credit for the "uninterrupted process of promotions" goes to Sindh IG Imam. He said that it is because of Sindh police chief's efforts that such a large number of promotions in the police department were made possible. Iterating Shaikh's remarks, Sindh AIG Aftab Pathan also acclaimed Sindh IG's efforts.

Karachi AIG Ghulam Nabi Memon, who also spoke on the occasion, said that police officials must take steps for making the investigation process more effective.

He praised Sindh Police for their "achievements against crime" and said that the department constitutes an "experienced and capable force."

Memon said that the services of police officials who died in the way protecting the citizens and for establishing peace are unforgettable and asked the officials to continue to serve citizens.

Deputy inspector generals, senior superintendents of police, superintendents of police and additional deputy inspector generals of Sindh Police also attended the ceremony.
