Plastic eggs

Letter October 28, 2019
It is for the government to act against food adulteration

For the sake of earning money by any means it is sad to see that people are manufacturing fake products. Now eggs manufactured from discarded plastic have flooded the market. Four of the sellers have been arrested so far in Karachi.

According to the police, a resident of Defence Housing Authority Phase 4 Karachi had lodged a complaint that eggs had turned out to be made of a plastic. He claimed this because the white part had mixed with the yellow part as soon as the shell was broken. It is a major issue for people because plastic is highly toxic and is the cause of harmful diseases.

Our government is trying to ban the use of plastic but we are being made to eat them. That is unbearable. I urge the government to take action against the manufacturers and sellers of plastic eggs and against all those engaged in producing and selling other fake goods.

Most foodstuffs are now adulterated. Milk sellers mix water, sand, detergents and animal fat in milk. Spices are mixed with powdered bricks and sawdust. Animal fat and many other harmful things are mixed in cooking oil. We don’t know how much poison are we being fed? It is for the government to act against food adulteration.
