PESHAWAR: The Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Thursday filed a petition in Peshawar High Court (PHC) against the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government for creating hurdles for their ‘Azadi March’ onto the federal capital.

The petition was filed by JUI-F Law Forum leader Abdullah Anwar. The petition stated that every Pakistani has the right to freedom of expression under the Constitution. The petition further stated that citizens had the right to hold peaceful processions, public gatherings and protest.

It contended that the government, in anticipation of their march, has put up containers to block key highways which is illegal.

The petition also argued against a ban imposed by the PEMRA on JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
