Colours, when used in the right way, can make an immense difference in various spheres of life. One colour that particularly gives a whole new meaning to the month of October is pink, which signifies breast cancer awareness. Raising awareness about breast cancer facilitates early diagnosis and substantially increases the chances of a patient’s survival, if and when diagnosed at an early stage.

HBL has always been a strong proponent of diversity and equality in the workplace and prides itself on being an industry leader in promoting diversity in the banking sector. Leading the way in honouring the noble cause, HBL recently commemorated Breast Cancer Awareness Month in an attempt to make an impact and to remind everyone of the benefits of early detection in the battle against breast cancer.

HBL’s iconic buildings were seen beaming in support for breast cancer awareness on the 25th as well as 26th of October. HBL bathed its two skyscrapers, the HBL Plaza – II Chundrigar and the HBL Tower – Clifton in pink light. And the sight was truly exquisite!

During the month, HBL held a ‘Pink Day’ at all its offices and encouraged its employees to wear pink in order to create awareness for the noble cause. They stirred up regular conversations, and offered hope, comfort and solidarity to employees or people who are going through this life threatening disease or have won the battle against it.

HBL also conducted awareness sessions at its offices by inviting doctors to educate its staff on the subject. The purpose of the sessions was to educate people on the importance of self-examination, regular checkups and also to spread the word to all of their loved ones.

Although 1 in 8 women are hypothetically diagnosed with breast cancer, the majority of cases still remains unrecorded due to the sufferers’ shyness and social pressure. HBL believes since this matter doesn’t garner enough attention, it is crucial to create a buzz in the society. Their remarkable initiative of shinning pink lights served as a symbol of hope and empowerment for all of those suffering from breast cancer.

With #HBLGoesPink, the leading bank of Pakistan has set an unprecedented example by shedding a much needed light on this grave issue.
