Muqam claims audit reports shatter PTI’s honest image

PESHAWAR: Audit reports for the fiscal year 2016-17 point out the corruption of the government and shatters the ruling PTI’s image of honesty and credibility.

This was claimed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa (K-P) President Amir Muqam on Monday.

Point to the audit report, he claimed that it showed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) — which was ruling the province then in a coalition government together with the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), was involved in alleged corruption worth Rs8 billion and additional irregularities worth Rs53 billion.

Muqam added that echoes of corruption could be heard in every major project initiated by the previous PTI government including the anti-polio programme, the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and others.

“The reality of the people who concealed themselves under masks of honesty has now been revealed before the public,” he added.

Recalling the attitude of PTI members during the 2014 march and months-long sit-in in Islamabad, Muqam said that tone and tenor of these people who had allegedly attacked government offices and the police had suddenly changed.

Muqam claimed that Prime Minister Imran Khan was quivering with fear on the opposition’s call for a long march and sit-in and it was now time for him to witness what a real protest looks like.

The PML-N leader exhorted Imran to keep true to his promise of providing containers and food for opposition protesters. Terming the government to be corrupt and liars, Muqam said that Pakistan was losing the battle on every front under the PTI.
