Court admits reference about illegal housing society

Accused causes a loss of Rs384 million by illegally establishing the housing society on the basis of fake documents

KARACHI: An accountability court has admitted the National Accountability Bureau's reference, pertaining to the establishment of Income Tax Employees Cooperative Housing Society on the basis of fake documents, filed against four accused, for hearing.

Operation against illegal housing societies starts

During a hearing on Friday, the court issued notices to the accused to appear before the court and also issued the arrest warrants of those accused who are on the run. Accused who have been nominated in the reference includes the current administrator of the housing society, Iqbal Hussain Channa, and three former administrators of the society, Lal Bakhsh Abro, Amjad Hussain Soomro and Altaf Hussain Memon.

RDA takes action against illegal housing schemes

According to the reference, the accused caused a loss of more than Rs384 million to the Finance Department by illegally establishing the housing society on the basis of fake documents and selling 375 of its plots. The court adjourned the hearing till November 1.
