Right-handed batsman Azhar Ali was given the reigns in Tests, while another right-handed batsman Babar Azam was asked to captain the team in T20Is.
End of Sarfraz’s era, beginning of captaincy wars
PCB said Sarfaraz was removed based on his performance, since he was unable to display enough leadership and individual qualities.
However, Twitterati was not all happy with the decision taken by PCB, especially pointing out that Sarfaraz led the T20I team to become the number one ranked side.

Also, removing Sarfaraz as captain from Teat is understandable but it is surprising to see him being removed as T20I captain. Under his leadership, Pak became number one T20I team.

On recent team and individual performance Sarfaraz Removal as Test Captain justified but Axe from T20 Captain is harsh, He is also likely to be drop from all 3 formats.

Whats your views ?
Sarfaraz Ahmad had his ups and downs as captain, will be most remembered for the CT win in 2017,however such is the fate of Pak captains that it never really ends well for them! Good luck to him for the future..

To remove him of T20 captaincy due to one bad series despite him leading PAK to no:1 T20 team is QUESTIONABLE #cricket pic.twitter.com/GkY29gq8bh
Sarfaraz Ahmed's record as T20I captain
— Daniel Alexander (@daniel86cricket) October 18, 2019
T20Is - 37
Won - 29
Lost - 8
Win% - 78.37
Sarfaraz took Pakistan to No1 in T20Is without home matches just like Misbah did in Tests, also won the ODI CT 2017. Now World's No1 T20I team will be lead by World's No1 T20I batsman Babar Azam.
Very Shameful act & initiative by @TheRealPCB to remove @SarfarazA_54 from captaincy , he did alot for Pakistan cricket .@captainmisbahpk should think about it.#Sarfaraz #SarfarazAhmed #babarazam #AzharAli

The decision on who will be the ODI captain will be taken in due course as per the PCB, since Pakistan do not play any ODIs before July 2020.
Azhar's and Babar's next assignments are in Australia where Pakistan play Tests and T20Is only.
