'Stranger Things 3' becomes the most viewed Netflix original series

The sci-fi drama racked up more than 64 million views in just four weeks

It's official! Stranger Things 3 has become the most viewed Netflix original series, given that it extended more than 60 million household viewership, according to the streaming giant in its quarterly earnings report.


According to Netflix, the sci-fi drama racked up more than 64 million views, in the four weeks after its premiere in July 4. It surpassed the numbers all the 'handful' of shows for which the streamer has released similar figures in past earnings reports.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Netflix counts a "view" as a member household watching 70 percent of one episode of a series or 70 percent of a feature film.

The series fans believe it is no surprise that it gathered so many viewers, given that less than a week after the season's release, Netflix quoted that 40.7 million member accounts worldwide had viewed the show, also making it the fastest viewed Netflix original show.
