PM Imran discusses matters pertaining to the economy

ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the core committee of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) decided on Wednesday to hold local bodies elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in order to redress the public grievance at their doorsteps.

Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired the meeting, which discussed matters pertaining to economy as well as the situation in occupied Kashmir were discussed. The prime minister took the participants into confidence over his recent visits to Saudi Arabia, Iran and China.

During the meeting, Imran told the participants that the local governments had a vital role in promoting good governance in the provinces. "We will resolve people’s problems at their doorsteps by holding local elections,” he said.

The prime minister told the party leader that his China visit was successful beyond his expectations. He added that Saudi Arabia had responded positively to his efforts for de-escalation in the Middle East region.

The meeting expressed concerns over the price-hike. Imran directed the chief ministers to take expedited their action against profiteers and hoarders. "The country has come out of economic crisis and now it needs stability to promote investment, which and create more jobs."

Interior Minister Ijaz Shah, Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan, and other senior officials were also present in the meeting.
