Supreme Court delists Justice Isa case due to judge’s unavailability

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Wednesday delisted Justice Qazi Faez Isa case due to unavailability of Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel – a member of the full court hearing the case.

“[The SC notifies] for information of all concerned Advocates/Advocate-on-Record and concerned parties that Const.P.17/2019,cte; Justice Qazi Faez Isa Vs The President of Pakistan and others, listed on 16.10.2019 in Supplementary Cause List No.445/2019 at 11.30 am… is delisted due to non-availability of requisite bench,” said a notification.

According to APP, Justice Mazhar Alam Khan Miankhel was unavailable due to sudden demise of Sindh additional inspector general Shahid Hayat, one of his first cousins.

The full court is hearing a slew of petitions against a presidential reference filed in May this year to remove Justice Isa due to non-disclosure of his family members’ assets.

The bench headed by Justice Umar Ata Bandial includes Justice Maqbool Baqar, Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Justice Faisal Arab, Justice Miankhel, Justice Sajjad Ali Shah, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Munib Akhtar, Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin Ahmed
