ISLAMABAD: For the first time in the history of the National University of Modern Languages, the department of Mass Communication organised a media conference on the topic of “Media as a Soft Power in the 21st Century” on 10-11 October 2019. The chief guest of this conference was Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan (Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Information and Broadcasting). Many other media researchers and professionals from across the country attended the conference.

The conference highlighted various subjects such as media hegemony & control, media & national security, peace & war journalism, information & communication literacy, political communication & democracy, mass communication, society and globalisation, youth, gender & communication, climate change and environment, social media, web journalism and representation, identity and image and public relations and society.

The theme of the conference is distinctive and it is a constructive power for the media in order to learn how we can modify media and communication systems in this modern world of technology. These types of activities must be incorporated into the institutions for students.
