Illegally appointed faculty may lose jobs in K-P

Shah Farman says the incumbent government will allow appointments against merit only

PESHAWAR: Governor Shah Farman on Friday said that the K-P government will thwart the practice of illegal appointments in the institutions of higher education.

Farman was presiding the senate session of Islamia College University Peshawar at the Governor House.

As chancellor of all state-owned universities of the province, the governor said there people involved in illegal appointments in the universities will not get any kind of relief from the government.

He said the authorities concerned will take action according to the law against members of faculty who got appointed through corrupt practices. The incumbent government will allow appointments against merit only.

“We can set an example to the other institutions by establishing merit and transparency in the higher educational institutions,” Farman said.

Meanwhile, the joint investigation team report regarding irregularities in appointments in various posts of Islamia College University Peshawar came under discussion during the session.

The senate members laid stress on disciplinary action against those who were involved in illegal appointments.

Governor Farman said the university’s administration should consider implementing fiscal discipline in the preparation of budget and the concerned university to take steps to control its financial deficit.
