Customs foil currency smuggling bid 

The customs checked suspect’s luggage and found currency including Saudi Riyal, Dirham and Euros hidden inside clothes

RAWALPINDI: Customs foiled a currency smuggling attempt at Islamabad International Airport (IIA) on Tuesday. According to airport officials, the briefing of a flight to Sharjah was under way when Customs officials intercepted a passenger Shaukat Khan, who hailed from Swabi. The suspect had obtained clearance pass from Airport Security Force (ASF) counter. The customs checked suspect’s luggage and found international currency including 34,000 Saudi Riyal, 40,000 Dirham and 2,500 Euros hidden expertly inside clothes. According to customs officials, the recovered amount was equivalent to  Rs.3.3 million. The suspect was taken into  custody for further investigation.
