According to police officials, the robbers who killed Misbah Athar, daughter of Athar Noor, are affiliated with an Afghan gang and are residents of Sohrab Goth. The gang has previously been involved in several street crimes, including robberies and burglaries in shopping centres and cafes.
DIG Farooq then appointed a five-member team, headed by the Investigation SSP and including the Gulshan-e-Iqbal police SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi to investigate the murder. The team interrogated more than six eyewitnesses and over a dozen suspects in the investigation after acquiring footage from CCTV cameras in the surroundings and geo-fencing the site where the crime occurred.
Based on the information, police carried out raids near Al-Asif Square and arrested two suspects. The arrested accused are involved in street crimes and they revealed details about an Afghan dacoit gang during interrogation. Police have tracked down the actual accused involved in the murder through information gleaned from the suspects' interrogation.
