Return of cricket

ISLAMABAD: In 2009, the touring cricketers from Sri Lanka were attacked by terrorists in Lahore, following which cricket in Pakistan was adversely affected on account of security concerns.

However the ongoing visit of the Sri Lankan cricket team to Pakistan is good news for the people. Cricket is back and it will herald the resumption and redemption of international cricket in Pakistan. We have longed to see our cricket arenas holding international cricket activities and hosting international teams. Perhaps after this tour, other teams will be willing to visit Pakistan more often. I am confident that we are successfully holding these events and we will be able to send a positive message to the cricket world. There is news that the CEO of the England and Wales Cricket Board will also be visiting Pakistan later this year to see the security arrangements. One should hope for the best.
