Football: Qatar officer retracts allegations

LONDON: The former international media officer for Qatar’s bid for the 2022 football World Cup, who had levelled a series of corruption allegations involving Fifa executive committee members regarding the country’s campaign, has admitted that she fabricated the claims, according to BBC. Phaedra Al Majid said she wanted to exact revenge after losing her job. “My intentions were to make a few headlines, I never expected that my lies would be carried on and discussed in parliament,” she said.
