Sindh Police arrest 10 ‘gutka sellers’

The SHO said Riaz was going to various shops raising suspicions of the patrol police

KARACHI: Shah Latif and Qauidabad Police claimed to have arrested 10 gutka sellers on Monday. They registered cases against them under Section 337J of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC), which pertains to causing hurt by means of poison, as per recent orders from the Sindh High Court. According to Shah Latif SHO Inspector Asmatullah Marwat, apprehended suspect, Riaz, is a gutka peddler. The SHO said Riaz was going to various shops raising suspicions of the patrol police. They recovered gutka and mawa from him, said the SHO, adding that Riaz confessed to the alleged crime during initial interrogation. Marwat said that the court could award the suspect a sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment if proven guilty. Quaidabad Police claimed to have arrested nine gutka peddlers in similar operations. They registered cases against the same section of the PPC.
