Speakers laud educators’ role on World Teachers’ Day

Say teachers as builders of the nation, should always consider their profession a mission

ISLAMABAD: Speakers at a function to mark World Teachers Day on Saturday acknowledged the role of private educational institutions for providing quality education to students as well as contributing to improve and increase the literacy rate.

While paying tribute to the teachers for their role in national development, they said teachers as builders of the nation should always consider their profession as a mission and a noble cause to create a knowledgeable and peaceful society.

The function was arranged by Nazriya Pakistan Council (NPC) in collaboration with Private Schools Network (PSN) and a civil society organisation, "Afaaq".

Speaking on the occasion, NPC Senior Vice Chairman Mian Muhammad Javed said our teachers are rendering valuable services in promoting the cause of education which should be commended at all levels. This is why today's event is given the title of "Taqreeb-i-Taqreem-i-Usaatza," he said.

He said the purpose of our education system should be to end all social discrimination in society and to create a linkage between different social strata.

Speaking on the occasion as chief guest, Senator Razina Alam said a teacher, by tapping the hidden potential and abilities of a student makes him a useful and successful citizen of the society which is a great social service.

She emphasised on paying attention to the moral training of students along with their education by inculcating supreme human values among them. Hina Batool from National History and Literary Heritage Division, Dr Shafqat Janjua from Educational Commission Foundation, PSN President Dr Muhammad Afzal Babar, Afaaq International Zonal Chief Numair Hassan Madni, Professor Shazia Akbar and many others also addressed the audience. Earlier, students and teachers in a large number participated in a walk and teachers were also given shields and certificates during the ceremony.

Rally to mark Teachers’ Day

A number of private educational institutions organised a rally to mark Teachers Day on Sunday.

The rally started from China Chowk and culminated at D-Chowk in which a large number of students as well as teachers participated.

The participants were holding placards inscribed with appreciative slogans for teachers.

On the occasion, the speakers said that the role of teachers was amongst major requisites in education and progress while their respect was a national obligation.

They added that people attained success and prestige in life due to efforts of their teachers and expressed that they were the ones who polished and shaped a person’s soul and character.

They emphasised that there was a need to train teachers and to make them more tech-savvy as well as to take special measures for their development.
