Without hinting anything concrete about a ‘game plan’, chief of the Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI) Imran Khan said that he will start a countdown for a regime change in Islamabad later this month, adding that dharnas would continue even in Ramazan.
“The time has come for the people of Pakistan to reject leaders who safeguard self interests,” said the PTI chief at a press conference in which he urged the masses to join the movement.
Khan said that a public meeting would initially be held in Faisalabad on July 24, followed by a series of demonstrations in Islamabad as part of his party’s “Hukumat Hatao, Mulk Bachao” movement.
According to the plan, a series of weekend dharnas (sit-ins) would be staged in front of Parliament House which would continue during Ramazan. These gatherings would be supplemented by public meetings in Lahore and elsewhere in the country that would culminate in Islamabad.
When asked about the timeframe to accomplish the task, Khan said: “We do have a timeframe in mind, but I am not going to share because that would reveal our game plan.”
Terming the so-called grand alliance led by PML-N a “grand fraud”, Imran Khan said these parties enjoyed all perks and privileges of being in government for three and a half years and were not sincere with
people’s cause.
If PML-N was sincere, it should resign from provincial and national assemblies, he added.
Rejecting the possibility of joining hands with the PML-N, Imran Khan said PTI and Jamat-e-Islami had been betrayed during the long march for restoration of judiciary in 2009.
When asked to answer a question if PTI’s movement was against democracy, the PTI chairman said he did not consider the system brought in power through “45 per cent bogus votes” to be a democracy.
The PTI chief lauded the chief justice for his historic decision to remove bogus votes and register almost 37 million new voters by December this year. He said the PTI would mobilise youth in all constituencies to register their votes.
“President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani should be held in contempt of court for their defiance to Supreme Court orders,” Khan added.
The PTI Chairman condemned the government for letting loose a reign of terror in Karachi and said that the writ of the government “has all but collapsed”, he added.
Imran Khan reiterated that free and fair elections under a caretaker government set up by the president “who is also the co-chairman of the PPP is only wishful thinking”.
To save the country from bloodshed, which would be an inevitable consequence of rigged elections, the PTI would strive to remove the government, he said.
He said only a neutral caretaker government set up with the blessings of the Supreme Court “can hold free and fair elections under an independent election commission and transparent Nadra based electoral rolls”.

The dharnas and sit ins which some say dont achieve anything Are actually a vital ingridient in creating a full blown movement... I recon Imran knows that and is building it up keeping his eyes on the prize, the elections. In my eyes he is doing everything just right, either way if we Get to 2013 or have early electios.
Imran Khan is way more sensible and educated than any other political leaders of Pakistan. He is a famous personality all around the world and he has a proven success record in sports, education, health and InshaAllah he will in politics as well. I have not been voting for anyone since I became eligible to do so, because I could only see corrupt leaders around us. But this time, I will have my family, including myself to vote for PTI.
@Rehan: why and how his policies are childish?
I always supported PML-N but now I have realized that I was wrong. This time I would not do any mistake. I shall vote for Imran - the only hope of change in Pakistan.
I have never voted in my life before but this time around I'm going to vote for PTI INSHALLAH.
IK and the party PTI is the only party representing people of pakistan's wish and intentions with the huge no. of think tank to be introduced in every field with logical and reasonable manners.
They have plan, stratigies, some actions and some thing that name commitment that no one is having.
Every pakistani wants to save country so do they is this wrong thinking.
Go ahead IK we are with you in all manners, with full fupport.
Pakistan Zinda Bad
What the heck is wrong with you Imran haters. Is Zardari or Nawaz your solution to Pakistan's problems. If you seriously believe that then we as pakistanis deserve our current situation and it will get worse. Think for yourselves for once not what your daddy taught you.
Imran must use social websites;Facebook/Twitter to mobalise the youth of Pakistan just like in the middle east.
At present Imran is the best. And the plan is very simple. What ever this government is doing, Do its opposite. What sort of planning you people need. PIA is in loss but small airlines like air blue or earning. Steel mill is in loss, Railway is in loss but a taxi driver earns some thing at the end of the day. In democracy we always select the current best. Lets support him now and if a better option is there, we can re think about him. Very simple provided we listen !!!
I love you as a captain and a social worker. I love your honesty, passion and enthusiasm as well . But politics is an entirely different field and has its own rules and dynamics. It doesn't follow one's wishes and sweet dreams for one simple reason. People's romance with their leaders/parties has a solid reasoning and you cant force them to hate or love some particular person or party. People cant react positively if your stance doesn't match their genuine problems. The debacle of DHARNA against drone attacks must have taught you some important lessons. All you need is patience, understanding and re-evaluation of your strategy. I sincerely wish you success in politics but to achieve it, you need to fire on all cylinders. How? that's a big question and needs an entire book.
@R S JOHAR: Imran Khan, lets start shaking the bushes, all spoil fruit will fall down and only then fresh fruit can flurish on the trees and blossom come.
Lets support the cause " Hakumat Hatao" Regards Tauqeer
To all PTI supporters .. We do need a change and Imran might be a good alternative to NS & Zardari but that doesn't mean to throw an elected government (though I'm itching to see that) as that would be going back to 1990's politics and to horse trading.Lets not be delusional, even if Imran wins PML & PPP are still going to have enough seats and they are known for horse trading leading to collapse of PTI's govt. Imran is asking for this WoT to be stopped but he should also make it conditional i.e establishment of Police stations, schools etc in Tribal areas and sealing the border and sending back all refugees. Even if there were bogus votes that doesn't mean they were cast for PPP only therefore, We can't say just because PTI didn't take part in election they should throw the government (we know these parties still got much more vote bank than Imran). Good or bad let them complete tenure and (1) Every one should use their vote as, if they live in this country they will be affected by any in coming government's policies. (2) Vote for honest and those politicians who work regardless of their party affiliations as we need good parliamentarians in assembly otherwise the rotten eggs will again come on road shouting for removal of future govt. (3) Any honest politician left in PPP & PML etc should force their current leaders to quit family politics these parties are not their paternal land that they will always occupy.
@abbas chaudhary: Please listen to IK's 100-day plan. It doesn't take Einstein to figure out where IK stands on education. And in case you "donot" know what Education Emergency means, i would suggest that you refrain from "waisting" your time with baseless arguments.
To, PTI lovers
Problems of pakistan cannot be solved unless we change ourself, which i donot see in any major political party agenda. you ask any social scientist he will tell you: 1.educate the public 2.control the populatin bomb. 3.create resourses 4.stablilty if you donnot have any plan for education, no plan for bring down the family size than please donot waist your and our time, there will be no success, does nor matter what you do. Liability on working person is almost 7-9 people, please tell me in any country in the world were this many people depend on one person and they have quality life. Best of my knowledge no where in the world.
Just talking against ,ppp ,pml-n or usa will not solve our prpblems, neither the chief justice will solve our problems Because he himself is fail to rout out coruption from his owm departmet.
abbas chaudhary
IK ZINDABAD!!!!!!!!!!! those who are criticizing him must prove that there is some one better the IK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
...and here we go again with the baseless, completely un-thought through, and inane arguments against IK. People will vehemently oppose and criticize everything under the sun that IK does, while at the same time conceding that he is the most incorruptible leader around. The very same bunch of vision-less people will rant that IK has no policy, and at the same time they will neither present alternatives, nor suggest solutions to get us out of this mess. In the end, the IK supporters will come out with hammers and bash these people into submission, and the overall thread count will stand at 89% in favor of PTI. The case will be closed, albeit for the time being, until some other article about IK pops up. Come 2013, IK will be in power, and this argument will be laid to rest once and for all.
dear u r wrong......pti have a complete team which is working on all the aspects of a good government and made ready their recomendations for the service of public....
People should really stop pretending sit-ins accomplish anything. Not even mass murder gets a reaction. Why would some people sitting around? I'm not knocking the concept of peaceful protest, however, that time could probably be used better. That doesn't mean it can't be used for something else to further the cause, though.
I am skeptical of his game plan's development. These statements appear to have the goal of putting some form of pressure on a group. But, nothing is said that would actually cause that intended pressure. Like even a vague reference to an aspect of his plan.
I'll probably get jumped for saying it but, at the moment, he is doing nothing different than PML-N. A lot of talk about a goal while forgetting that the plans they don't speak of are what separates those who can do it and those who just run at the mouth. There is no reason given that they are anymore capable than a mental patient on a street corner preaching revolution and offering piggy back rides in exchange for hugs.
Mr Rehan, 35 million Bogus votes which form almost 45 % of the total votes registered if that doesnt constitute rigging then i dont know what does!!!!
Go Imran!! Hope!!
Dharna at posh area of Islamabad despite 14 hour long roza in 40 degrees temperature. Nice strategy!
Imran Khan has no programm, no planning and no team to implement his ideas. And what ideas -
Uchal Kood and shor sharaba by a pagri uchal Jat
. He is purely a person who insult, defame and abuse others and has no substance in his talk. He has surplus money to waste on such activity which is being calledpolitics
in Pakistan. The 2008 election was not rigged, Mr. Khan. Although, I hope you get elected only to be removed in one year, so that you realize how immature and childish your politics is. Regards, Rehan
The intentions of Imran Khan for Pakistan's cause are extremely noble and praise-worthy and with people's support he might succeed in his mission.
