Rangers, police arrest eight suspects in Malir

They claimed to have seized weapons, ammunition, vehicle, fake green number plate

KARACHI: Sindh Rangers and police arrested eight suspects on Monday during a joint operation in Malir. They claimed to have seized weapons, ammunition, vehicle, fake green number plate and Rangers and police uniforms from the suspects.

The suspects were allegedly part of a gang that would deceive people into offering dollars at rates lower than the market rates in exchange of Pakistani currency. Disguised as Rangers and police personnel, they would rob people.

The arrested persons were identified as Noor Muhammad alias Noor alias Haji, son of Dodo, Mol Chand Patwari, son of Sakriumil, Hussain Bux Lahoti, son of Hot Khan, Muhammad Akhtar alias Chaudhry, son of Ghulam Sarwar, Allah Dad, son of Sher Muhammad, Muhammad Hanif alias Sheikh, son of Muhammad Mustan, Amir Ali Kathiyan, son of Allah Bux, and Mithu Khan Mir Jatt, son of Haji Khan Mir Jatt. According to Rangers’ spokesperson, during initial interrogation the suspects confessed to belonging to an organised mafia which had stolen over Rs200 million during eight separate crimes. The suspects are in police custody awaiting legal proceedings.
