Mob attacks couple in govt hospital in Badin

The vigilantes were led by Ali Muhammad Mari, who reportedly belongs to a religious group

HYDERABAD: In an incident of vigilantism in Badin district, a man allegedly running a den of immoral activities was thrashed and kicked in public by a mob on Monday.

The incident happened outside a government hospital in Khorwah where the assaulted person, Mumtaz Maachi, and his wife had visited for a medical checkup.

The vigilantes were led by Ali Muhammad Mari, who reportedly belongs to a religious group. The vigilantes also allegedly manhandled Maachi’s wife inside the hospital. The incident’s video was recorded and circulated on social media.

Later, the police lodged an FIR on complaint of Maachi’s wife, Eedan, nominating Mari and five others in the case. Two suspects, including Mari, were also arrested.

The police said Maachi and Mari are locked in a property dispute as well.
