QUETTA: The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Saturday announced to take action against 13 teachers of the University of Balochistan (UoB) who went abroad on scholarships to pursue PhD programmes but instead sought citizenship of foreign countries and never returned. Mass irregularities surfaced in the varsity when 13 out 60 professors, who went abroad for PhD degree on scholarships, did not return. Balochistan Assembly’s PAC directed the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to take action against escaped academics and bring them back. “Mega irregularities have been revealed while scrutinizing UoB’s foreign scholarship programme. The PAC, therefore, has directed the FIA to contact Pakistani consulates to bring back such teacher,” said PAC Chairman Akhtar Hussain Langu. He said majority among fled professors obtained nationalities in countries where they went for PhD.
