The decision was taken on Friday during a meeting at the CM House. Planning and Development Chairperson Naheed Shah and Principal Secretary to CM Sajid Jamal Abro attended the meeting.
The CM said that SSWMB is a new body which needs capacity building so it can work methodically with efficiency.
Illangovan said that he would send solid waste management experts to Sindh and a plan would be developed through the planning and development department to improve the capacity of the board and enable it to become a self-sufficient organisation.
The two parties agreed that SSWMB would operate such that it could work across the province in different phases. In the first phase work would begin in the divisional headquarters and then in district headquarters.
Investment in agriculture
"I want to introduce changes in cropping pattern such that low delta crops can be grown with high yield. This would improve rural economy," said the CM, adding that Sindh's growers have been engaged in traditional crops which were high delta and low yield.
According to the CM, a separate cropping system for small growers was also needed. "We have to improve their income by switching them over to orchard and cash crops," he said.
Illangovan said that he would facilitate meetings between global agricultural experts, the agriculture department and planning and development experts. They would prepare a plan which could be implemented in phases, he added.
The meeting concluded that a World Bank team would visit Sindh shortly and hold meetings with relevant officials of the Sindh government to bring reforms in agriculture and solid waste management.
