Request to Punjab govt

Letter September 28, 2019
Requesting the education minister of Punjab to do away with the rationalisation policy

KHUSHAB: It is an admitted fact that teachers are an important part of the whole education system. The so-called rationalisation emerged during the PML (N) government, as a result, teachers suffered countless problems. Teachers were given teaching duties far away from their residences without proper means of transportation. There has been undue punishment and harassment of teachers. Education officers mostly behave rudely with those that come for help. They are not supposed to behave like this. Teachers are supposed to fulfil the enrolment of students in any case whether their parents cooperate or not, which may lead to legal consequences in the future. Furthermore, teachers are not easily sanctioned casual leave even in case of an emergency like on occasions of death or marriage. News of rationalisation has again been whirling for the last three months to shift teachers from one school to another.

I request the education minister of Punjab, Murad Raas, to do away with the so-called rationalisation policy. If the so-called rationalisation policy continues, then what is the use of the slogan of ‘New Pakistan’? Teachers should be granted casual leave, especially on emergency occasions. There should be one clerk in every primary and middle school to maintain school record. Teachers should be provided with incentives for they are builders of the nation’s future.
