Altaf Hussain said he believes the present government system is not a democratic one, and called it an “authoritarian democracy” system.
He said all political parties should work together on a one-point agenda to get rid of this authoritarian democracy.
Altaf Hussain paid rich tributes to the victims of Kati Pahari, Orangi Town and Qasba Colony.
He assured the victims that the MQM will not leave them at the mercy of terrorists.
The MQM’s Coordination Committee will hold a meeting today (Sunday) at the party’s Nine-Zero headquarters, to apprise the nation about its future course of action vis-à-vis the new system.

I don't wanna comment on other parties but would suggest that Imran Khan must stay away from the current trap designed by MQM and PML-N and few others, for their own political reasons. No, PPP are not angels but to invite and welcome Army in national politics, and appreciating such a disorder would prove to be fatal for Imran Khan afterwards.
I wonder how long is this order is valid for. Will it be revoked when MQM joins gov once again?
@Pakistan "Get a democratic and patriotic dictator like the previous one one.. Build the fundamentals for democracy such as education.. Elimination of feudals..corruption.. Then bring democracy" He had 9 years. Feudals and lotas were nourished and education was not allocated any resonable budget. I hope next elections are fair and free and people choose honest representatives.
And what next?
We've always been seeing coalitions made on one point agenda, i.e, to remove the existing government; What next?
Does any body care, how the things will be worked out after that?
Do they have an agenda as to what will be their joint manifesto after fall of a particular govt? or, they'll then start fighting & looting like the previous govt.
Can we all join hand together under the most 'Just' (justuce providing) system?
can we join under a single point agenda?
can we revert to our original ideology?
Our moderate & broad minded are probably scared of some extreme steps, but if they know the proper instructions, nothing to worry;
Just as its a scary thing for a murderer that punishment for murder is death. it is given in Quran Al-Baqara [2:179], that "In Qisas (the Law of Equality) there is (saving of) Life to you, o you! men of understanding; that you may restrain yourselves". So we should take the positive aspect of the divine laws.
Moreover, if anyone repents wholeheartedly & makes his best efforts not to repeat, is forgiven by the most Merciful.
Similarly, the divine law gives us very justified & moderate solution to all our problems. We just need to be educated on it.
Our generations should be taught these divine teachings in depth, by the time they reach 16 yrs of age. This way they would be best equipped to deal with all kinds of issues in the best manner.
Now, If we base our politics on honesty (in all respects) & follow the divine teachings of selflessness, truthfulness, lustlessness, care for poor, surrendering materialistic love against humanity, join hands with other brothers in faith (ignoring minor difference to persons) & those non-Muslims who are peaceful, weigh the human life (not only muslim) as most important, don't use public resources for personal gains, and maintain strict punishments for the violators, it would be a guarantee of the best welfare society ever built.
I beleive, any alliance honestly made, to keep divine law as the basis of next govt, will be the ever lasting winner in Pakistan.
Absolutely right. MQM supported PPP- it was pure politics- now its oppositions is absolutely democratic. PPP with a stroke of pen abolished the good going local bodies system just to loot the wealth being earned through Karachi and going into the Karachi's kitty not sindh's. It does not wants to hold the LB polls in Karachi. why?????? good decision by MQM to sit on opp benches.
I think the only basic agenda of every political party within Pakistan excepting perhaps Imran Khan, is to win elections with or without any concern for human life and property. Time and again the violence in Karachi, which is now a common occurrence, has proven beyond doubt that PPP, ANP and MQM along with various brands of nationalist parties from Sindh province are essentially violent. They really don't care about anyone except their own vote banks. Their loyalty is for their own assets and not towards betterment of this country or this city. MQM is often found with dictators and yet it is now talking about removing authoritarian democracy. What non-sense!
These all political parties are playing their game for their own benefits by killing and slaughtering citizens. We dont need any more OLD RICES , we need new faces to lead our nation. They all are the same. One Looter GO another Come. Since the birth of Pakistan there are only few families in the history are leading Pakistan.
Give new faces chance. We need to live with success, we need to live with peace, we need to see our country achieving.
but due to our current failed government. This time We can just ask "WE NEED TO LIVE"
Altaf Hussain said he believes the present government system is not a democratic one, and called it an “authoritarian democracy” system. ALL OF SUDDEN AFTER THREE YEARS-- Stop the drama for God Sake.
After Pakistan Resolution in 1940, The pamphlets and posters had been printed saying Pakistan will be a Caliphate state and its Army will rule the country after the Independence. In 1947, Jinnah negated the Idea and warned the then army generals of their ill-will. Jinnah set course for Liberal, Democratic and Tolerant state of Pakistan.
Disgracing and overthrowing the ruling party or a ruler is the most disgraceful tradition of Pakistanis........... **the basic requirement of a Democracy is the guarantee of fundamental human rights of individuals, social groups (particularly religious communities) not to forget our She-males, homosexuals etc............a society which unitedly persecutes, segregates and harass the minorities, oppress and publicly murder citizens belonging to other beliefs like Ahmadis (wajab-ul-qatal), Christians, Sikhs, Hindus, is no doubt a society of intolerant barbarians. Such will be their rulers!!!
For once I agree with altaf hussain , I hope his vision comes true and I hope this government falls soon .
come back Brit bhai!
How can a foreign national ask to topple a democratically elected government. Shouldn't there be some legal action against him. Also majority of people of sindh support ppp. That's a fact even musharaf rigged election could not change that. Also democracy means that in a federation wishes of majority are respected as far as basic human rights are provided to everyone. So commissioner system it is. Now beat it.
Ahhhh!!! The Old Drama continues yet again, I guess it seems like something is to fall!
Keep Your Country Clean. Keep MQM out of Politics
@Aadersh: MQM did the right thing to support the government and give them an opportunity to rule... but if they dont intend to take the opportunity and be democratic then their decision is right.
@sam: Dude, there can't be democracy running in this country. Because the reality is that ethnic mindset is ingrained in each and every one of us- and that includes all the people. Where there is such a mindset, democracy can't reign simply because merit is comprised for ethnic appointments. When merit is dumped, the rest of the institutions automatically get dumped. Democracy can only prevail in this country if it is further divided into many provinces with each ethnicity being represented otherwise we will keep fighting.
Before partition of 1947 we were the slaves of the British Indian Empire ruled from their Crown Queen. Now soon we might have a Desi British Crown King!
The present government has totally failed. Both MQM & PPP are at a risk of getting not elected in next elections. This is the reason Mr. Altaf Hussain has taken this decision because MQM has also failed in pleasing their voters and MQM voters are switching towards Tekreek-e-Insaaf. Second reason is that MQM decisions were not accepted by PPP and MQM has always appreciated PPP decisions which were not good for the citizens but MQM as a party had much benefits from PPP. I would appreciate if upcoming elections are conducted using proper electronic system as in UK to ensure that vote has been given by a candidate and is not a fake vote and this should be tested and implemented prior to the elections.
If the current set-up were a dictatorship, would Pakistan find a robust media free enough to criticize the government and still endure to publicize Altaf Hussain's rants? If it were a dictatorship, perhaps the security situation would have improved by now what with the state's monopoly of force. If the present dispensation were an “authoritarian dictatorship,” then it wouldn’t be accused of being weak and indecisive by its detractors. Clearly, Altaf Hussain, a British national, does not know what he’s talking about. Didn’t MQM support previous military rulers before? Instead of spewing venom and inciting the overthrow of the government, which is its only agenda by the way and nothing else beyond the populist rhetoric, the MQM should be helping address the civil strife in Karachi.
@ sam.. There is no other version of democracy coming to this country. Our country is full of corrupt illterate ppl. We shud have nevr had it to begin with. For those say give it a chance.. Are living in a bubble. 4 more years of this democracy.. And pakistan will be wiped of the map. Get a democratic and patriotic dictator like the previous one one.. Build the fundamentals for democracy such as education.. Elimination of feudals..corruption.. Then bring democracy. I'm frankly sick of democracy.. Just want peace.
@Fahad Raza: dude no offence bt it seems that u dont know the real meaning of democracy, what pakistan has now is not a proper democracy at all.
Better late than never.
This government should be removed for bad governance, corruption and very bad economic policies.
Now we talkin.. Choose country instead of democracy..
What Imran says at the spot these minor parties realize that after years of losses...C'mon Pakistan vote for IK now...
For once the MQM was outwitted by PPP and taken for a ride for the last three years. What now???
