Prime Minister Imran Khan will address his first United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) session on Friday as Islamabad continues its efforts to bring the Kashmir issue under global spotlight.

The premier's address to the 74th session will follow Narendra Modi's address to the general assembly.

Prime Minister Imran, who pegged the UNGA trip as ‘Mission Kashmir, is expected to highlight the human rights situations in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) in his speech.

He is also likely to shed light on Indian attempts to carry out a false flag operation and using that as a pretext for further misadventure.

Since August 5, when the Narendra Modi's right-wing government revoked IOK's autonomy, India has flooded the occupied territory with troops, imposed severe restrictions on movements, and cut all telephone, mobile phone and internet connections.

Thousands of people have been detained while political leaders placed under house arrest.

Islamabad also co-hosted a session with Ankara on Islamophobia.

To further the cause, PM Imran joined hands with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Malaysian Premier Mahatir Mohammad to launch an English language channel dedicated to “confronting the challenges posed by Islamophobia”.

The decision was announced following a trilateral meeting between Pakistan, Turkey, and Malaysia in New York.

Imran also met with the prime ministers of United Kingdom, New Zealand, Ethiopia, Italy and Norway, and the vice-president of Indonesia.

Foreign ministers of China and Russia also called on the premier.
