Federal govt promotes 44 officials of FDE
Notifies promotion of 21 assistant professors to associate professors

The ministry of federal education and technical training has promoted 44 officials of Federal Directorate of Education belonging to administrative and teaching cadres.
According to a notification issued by Section Officer of ministry of education, two deputy directors of Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) including Abdul Waheed Khan and Rana Muhammad Tanvir serving on basic pay scale (BPS) 18 have been promote to next grade as directors.
The notification read that on recommendation of Departmental Selection Board (DSB), 21 assistant professors of Federal Government (FG) colleges, including seven men and 14 women, of BPS 18 have also been advanced to BPS 19 as associate professors.
Similarly, 10 male and seven female assistant professors of Model Colleges have been up-scaled to BPS 19 as associate professors.
Further, two female vice principals of FG schools including Sadaf Sarwar and Sajda Bibi have been promoted to BPS 19 as principals whereas four assistant headmistress FG schools have been moved to BPS 19 as deputy headmistress.
According to the notification, the promoted officials will serve one-year probation period under Civil Service Rules 1973.
However, the President Teachers Association Malik Ameer has demanded the ministry of education to immediately resolve remaining cases of time-scale promotion.
Punjab to hire librarians
Punjab government has finally decided to fill vacancies of librarians in 730 colleges across the province.
The recruitment process on 400 vacant seats would be done through Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) directly on basic pay scale (BPS) 17.
Under the program, the libraries will be linked with National Library Islamabad where students will have access lectures, thesis and books available in the library. In second phase, these libraries will be linked with international libraries.
The development has sent a wave of happiness amongst the people related to the field as the library system in colleges had been wreaked-havoc as they were run by clerical staff.
In this regard, the President and Secretary General Punjab Colleges Librarians Association (PCLA) Ahsanullah Bhatti and Fayyaz Bhukari told The Express Tribune that PPSC had summoned list of vacant seats from the colleges. They added that the process was expected to start by December this year.
Digital Libraries
In a bid to inculcate e-learning amongst the students, the government has started the project to digitized libraries of 730 post graduate and degree colleges across the province.
The project will be completed within this year owing to which the readers would have access to hundreds of books a click away.
In this regard, Punjab Colleges Librarians Association Secretary Fayyaz Bikhari said libraries of post graduate colleges were being digitised in the first phase. He told that process was underway in historic Gordon College Rawalpindi under his supervision which has been 50 percent completed. Bukhari added that the step would benefit students and teachers educationally.
