LHC adjourns Mall Road rallies case
The vice president of the Mall Road Trade Association had filed a petition in LHC to restrain the protesters
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court (LHC) adjourned a matter for indefinite time relating to the protests, rallies being staged on The Mall Road after the nomination of LHC's Justice Aminuddin as judge of the country's top court.
Justice Amin was hearing a petition against the rallies and protests on The Mall but recently Justice Amin was not hearing regular cases after his nomination as a Supreme Court judge.
The vice president of the Mall Road Trade Association had filed a petition in LHC to restrain the protesters and those taking out rallies on The Mall Road despite a ban imposed by the LHC to engage in such activities on the road.
The petitioner's lawyers had contended that the Punjab government had issued a notification to stop such activities but all in vain as the protesters are committing open violations of the LHC order and the government's notification as well.
