JCP approves addition of six judges to LHC

Another judge has been given a six-month extension

The Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) on Tuesday approved the confirmation of six Lahore High Court (LHC) judges.

Led by Chief Justice of Pakistan Asif Saeed Khosa, the commission's meeting approved six judges, while giving a six-month extension to the seventh, Justice Shakil-ur-Rehman.

Those approved are Justice Anwarul Haq Panu, Justice Farooq Haider, Justice Muhammad Waheed Khan, Justice Ahmed Raza, Justice Risaal Hassan Syed and Justice Asim Hafeez.

JCP to consider confirmation of seven additional LHC judges on Sep 24

The aforementioned judges will work till the age of 62.

Currently, 46 judges are working in LHC, while the total sanctioned strength is 60.

No new judges have been appointed in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) during the current year.

Even though nominations have been sent no consensus was reached in the commission meeting. Currently, only four IHC judges are working.
